Well, that’s another season of shows and FROWS wrapped up, then! From the snowy streets of New York through to the blue skies of Paris via London and Milan, the AW15 catwalks were a riot of trends we want to wear now, as well as a whole host of A-list action to keep us entertained. From tears on the front row to epic hair transformations and even babies on the catwalk, here are the best, and most outrageous moments from the past month…
Harper And North Hit The FROW
Unsurprisingly, Kim Kardashian took baby North with her to witness her second season of fashion FROWs. She didn’t seem too pleased, however, as during dad, Kanye’s, presentation- as part of his new collection for Adidas- North had a meltdown, caushing Anna Wintour and Beyonce to pretend it wasn’t happening. Not even Alexander Wang could cheer her up, as she had another tantrum at that show, too. Meanwhile, Harper Beckham was pride of place to watch her mummy’s show in New York, where she didn’t make a sound as the models stormed past her on the catwalk, prompting some hilarious memes to pop up on the web drawing comparisons between her and an unhappy North. Don’t you just love the internet?
Kanye X Adidas Originals
Speaking of Kanye, the superstar presented his collection for Adidas during NYFW, with a host of his very famous friends showing their support from the front row. While Kris and Kendall Jenner watched on, it was actually Kylie who modelled the flesh-toned body stocking, also worn by big sis Kim in the audience. While Kanye was applauded for his diverse model casting, the jury’s still out on this sportswear offering. But Justin Bieber definitely approved, as he rushed backstage to nab a pair of Yeezy Boosts before you could say Adidas.
Ke$ha’s Fashion Week Chic-Over
As fashion week kicked off in New York, we had to do a double take at several of the shows as we witnessed a celeb transformation of epic proportions. Yup, sitting front row at the likes of Zac Posen and DKNY was none other than Ke$ha, who had seemingly undergone a massive chic-over. From shift dresses to tailored coats and demure gowns, Ke$ha hit the style headlines for all the right reasons. And not a bit of body glitter in sight!
Topshop’s Celeb Parade
All eyes should have been on the catwalk as Topshop showcased its AW15 Unique collection, but nothing could distract from the A-list antics on the FROW. Cara Delevingne, Kendall Jenner, Alexa Chung, Pixie Lott, Ellie Goulding and Jourdan Dunn all caused a stir as they rocked up to support the brand’s CEO, Phillip Green. And if you thought the scrum of photographers inside the venue was daunting, it was nothing compared to the crowds clamouring to get a pic of Kendall and Cara after the show. In fact, some of them were even climbing on the roof of our car to get a better look. Madness.
Naomi’s Dramatic Entrance
As the supers we’d hoped to see storming the Burberry catwalk arrived to take their place as spectators, Naomi Campbell was noticeably absent next to the likes of Kate Moss, Mario Testino, Jourdan Dunn and Cara D. It seems like she’d just got stuck in traffic, however, as she made a dramatic entrance in her white furry coat, 20 minutes late. There weren’t any hard feelings though, as Christopher Bailey made a beeline for her backstage, posing for the cameras and sharing a joke. Only Naomi could get away with that one.
Kendall’s Catwalk Ban
She’d become a regular fixture on the catwalk, but Milan brought some bad news for Kendall Jenner. Despite walking for a few shows towards the beginning of the week, including Fendi, the model Kardashian was given doctor’s orders to take a break. Suffering with sickness, Kendall was forced to pull out of the other major shows she was scheduled to appear in, including Dolce & Gabbana. She wasn’t gone for long, though. Kendall made a triumphant comeback at the H&M show, kicking off Paris Fashion Week with a bang. What a trooper.
Dolce & Gabbana
Kendall may have been absent, but there were a whole load of new models on the Dolce catwalk to take her place. For AW15, the design duo dedicated their show to the number one lady in their lives- their mums. Yup, in typically Italian fashion, the catwalk was a celebration of mothers everywhere, with the models even walking hand-in-hand with their mini-me counterparts! One model, Bianca Balti, even strutted her stuff despite being heavily pregnant. Now that’s some commitment.
Kim Goes Blonde For Balmain
When Kim arrived in Paris with husband Kanye, the world’s media managed to get themselves in a spin over speculation that the Kardashian had dyed her hair platinum blonde. Concealing her head entirely with a beanie hat, Kim kept the big reveal for later, as she emerged to attend the Balmain AW15 show. Sure enough, those famous dark locks had been given a brand new look, with the brightest blonde imaginable. Cue global hysteria.
Kate Moss Being Kate Moss
We thought we couldn’t love Kate any more than we already do. And then she went and partied on a bus with Lady Gaga. While we thought we may have been seeing things, Kate did in fact attend Gaga’s Parisian dinner party, held on board a bus, where she truly let her hair down and showed everyone else how to party. Later on, Kate reportedly threw a photographer out of a private party in a nightclub. She’s our hero.
Chanel’s Brasserie Blockbuster
It was the moment we’d all been waiting for; Chanel’s latest catwalk spectacular. And, the brand certainly didn’t disappoint with its classic French brasserie setting, installed within the iconic Grand Palais. With a huge bar situated in the middle of the ‘catwalk’, guests were seated at tables to watch the show, which proved to be Cara Delevingne’s return to the catwalk. Opening the show, Miss D was joined by Kendall Jenner, Lily Donaldson and Edie Campbell, amongst others, as they showed off an irresistible ensemble of tweeds, pearls, ruffles and embellished fringing. As the finale march finished, the models took their place at empty tables and at the bar, where Kendall and Cara swapped kisses with the waitor and enjoyed a cheeky snack. Meanwhile, Anna Wintour took selfies with Mario Testino and Poppy Delevingne mingled with Kris Jenner. It was a joyful, surreal and extravagant show. Everything we love about Chanel, basically.
Zoolander Invades Valentino
Valentino presented us with yet another chapter in its ongoing fashion fairytale. Not only was the collection a beautifully decorative showcase of floor-sweeping gowns and monochrome separates, the finale was hijacked by an actual fictitious narrative. Greeted by cheers and applause as the audience struggled to find their phones quick enough, Ben Stiller and Owen Wilson staged a catwalk-off, reprising their Zoolander roles. And, as the rumours began, it was eventually confirmed that this was in fact being filmed for the purposes of Zoolander 2. Brilliant.
