The whirlwind that is the AW15 fashion shows are just over a month away (yup, New York Fashion week kicks off on February 12th) but designer J.W. Anderson has ensured we get a fashion fix to keep us going until then by dropping his amazing pre-fall 2015 collection on Instagram.
The whiz-kid Brit catwalk star – as well as running his own label he’s Creative Director of Loewe – Instagrammed the complete line last night, and promptly sent the style cyber-sphere into overdrive with fashion insiders, bloggers and stylistas alike regramming the shots left, right and centre. Perfectly nailing fashion land’s current mood, the collection has a seriously retro spin with flared trousers, high-waists and boxy, button down collared jackets reigning supreme.
A colour palette of mustard, maroon, tan, purple and turquoise nodded to the 70s trend, but the sixties were a big influence too with J.W. saying “I was looking at the sixties, looking at odd modernity. It’s evoking nostalgia, but not making it decade specific.” We’d say he’s definitely succeeded in striking the perfect balance of vintage and modern with this dreamy collection of super-wearable styles.
So, could uploading to Instagram become the fashion show of the future? While we’d totally miss the spectacle, buzz and opportunities for celeb and street style spotting, we’ve got to admit it’s pretty cool to see the latest collections from the comfort of your desk/bed/sofa.
Whatever happens, we just hope the high street has been taking style notes from Mr Anderson’s new drop, as there’s plenty of looks we can’t wait to pay homage to…
