Boho is back with a bang for spring/summer 2015, and there’s one key piece that every stylista worth her salt needs to get in on the hippie chic action – the peasant blouse. Yep, the simple tie-front, embroidered shirt is having a major moment in the spotlight right now.
We first spotted peasant blouses on US celebs like Alessandra Ambroisio and Sophia Bush, who can showcase their new season wardrobes earlier the rest of us (thanks for that, British weather). Now we’re officially heading into spring, the high street is positively teeming with them. You’re looking for a loose, round neck smock style blouse – authentic cheesecloth fabric will score extra points – with a tie-front and pretty but rustic embroidery (bright colours will up the springtime/holiday feel).
George at Asda has a seriously bargainous £14 option, which nods to the catwalk versions seen at Altuzarra and Tory Burch, while Rare London’s peachy version ticks off the pastel trend too. Team with indigo denim flares, tan platforms and a satchel now, then denim cut offs or palazzo pants and pool slides come summer.
Free People, Zara and Forever 21 are also championing the peasant blouse this season, so you’ll be spoilt for choice when it comes to getting in on the trend action. Festival season, summer holidays, even as a work wear update – we guarantee you’ll get some serious wardrobe mileage out of this one.
