Every stylista worth her salt has been spotted toting an Olympia Le Tan book clutch around town over the past few seasons. The kooky French arm candy queen has turned literary classics into much coveted must-buys, with celebs and street stylers alike accessorizing their looks with everything from an embroidered copy of Jayne Eyre to Disney’s Snow White. From the fashion month FROW’s to the red carpet, Olympia Le Tan’s clutches have gained cult status seriously quickly.
“I’ve always been obsessed with books,’ says Olympia, ‘I grew up in a house where the walls were all books. My father has a very big collection of old books and I was always attracted by the nice graphic covers. I think that’s what inspired me.”
As you’d expect from a much-loved designer buy, they don’t come cheap, clocking in at over £1000 each. We know. As beautiful as they are, we just don’t have four figures to part with for a piece of arm candy, which is where Truffle Shuffle saves the day.
The site, known for it’s signature kitsch tees, has just started stocking some very Le Tan inspired book cover clutches for a way more purse-friendly £9.99. Yep, that’s a saving of exactly £990.01. Our faves are George Orwell’s 1984 and Jane Austen’s Pride & Prejudice, but if you’re in the mood for something a little more fun, there’s Where The Wild Things Are and The Very Hungry Caterpillar too.
Now you’re all set to join the world’s coolest book club.
