If you’re one of the 26.7million people who follow Cara Delevigne on Instagram you will probably have noticed that there’s been something funny going on with her feed of late.
Cara doesn’t really look like Cara. In fact, she is one minute masquerading as Leonardo DiCaprio winning an Oscar (we’ve still got our fingers crossed for that one), and the next minute she appears to be a monkey-like creature.
The pics the supermodel has been creating have all been thanks to new app, MSQRD.
The genius technology from Masquerade Technologies launched just before Christmas, and is the latest face-altering app taking our selfie-obsessed world by storm.
According to the brand’s website, the app lets you, “Record video selfie animations, change the way you look and send it to friends via your favourite messengers and social networks.” We’re intrigued to say the least…
So, how does MSQRDwork? The app is based around the idea of wearing ‘masks’ of various characters. The rather random line-up of celebs you can impersonate includes Donald Trump, David Bowie as Ziggy Stardust, Conchita Wurst and Shia LeBoeuf. Interesting choices indeed…
If animals are more your thing you can try convincing your mates you’ve morphed into a polar bear, gorilla, bunny or tiger. Or, if none of the above tickles your fancy there a number of fun cartoon masks on offer to play with.
Once you’ve chosen your mask and created your GIF style animations you can then share them via any of your favourite social media channels.
The only question that remains is what mask will you be wearing?
Currently only available on iPhone (sob!), we’re hoping this app will be rolled out to all other smartphones soon.
