If you’ve ever owned a pair of Levi’s 501 jeans, you’ll know they’re an absolute denim classic. Now, in celebration of their iconic style, the label has just launched the new 501 CT jean, inspired by how Levi’s denim devotees customise their pairs.
Ripping, patching, cuffing – there’s plenty ways to make a pair of Levi’s your own, but the design team have taken their cue from fashionista’s who prefer a more streamlined look, and reworked the 501 CT’s with a tapered leg. “We’re seeing a lot of people tapering their 501 jeans – bloggers, celebrities and customers,‘ say’s Levi’s President James Curleigh, ‘In fact it’s one of the most frequent requests we get at our tailor shops. So the idea behind 501 CT came from listening to our fans. This season we thought, let’s do the work for them and create the jean they wish they could make themselves.”
Ready-made, wear-with-everything denim? Sounds good to us. As well as the key tapered leg that finishes at the ankle, the new 501’s feature a slightly less nipped in waist and less fabric around the bum.
To front the 501 CT campaign, Levi’s has snapped up a cast of cool musicians including sister trio (and Taylor Swift BFF’s) Haim, The Vaccines and stylish songstress Kilo Kish, with each filming a video to showcase how they style their 501’s. (Check out Haim’s below) A fitting move considering Levi’s have long been to go-to jean of choice for every major musician from Bruce Springsteen to The Ramones, Gwen Stefani to Beyonce.
