Day three of London Fashion Week saw us zipping across London in our LOOK Hyundai i10 City cars to swish Kensington Church Street. Why? To check out Mulberry’s spring/summer 2015 collection at their plush London headquarters. Emerging from the lifts we were greeted by a beautiful indoor garden – a clever hint of what was to come.
The smell of luxe leather wafted through the air as we made our way into the Mulberry showroom, where the amazing new collection was on show for us to view (read: drool over). London’s Kew Gardens provided the inspiration for the collection and the room was transformed into a Mulberry garden for the occasion. Huge planters spilled over with white and blue hydrangeas, delphiniums and cow parsley – the same flowers that were splashed all over frocks, separates and accessories.
Now to the collection. Believe us when we say we want it all. The floral inspiration was evident in pretty bloom prints and shades of cornflower blue, while beautifully intricate lace and thick jacquard were the go-to textures for everything from frocks to outerwear. Then we got on to the accessories. We were introduced to Mulberry’s new ‘It’ arm candy, the Delphie, a gorgeous envelope bag, watch out for it dangling from the arm of every A-list Mulberry fan when it lands next season. In a seriously genius feat of fashion design, you can flip the envelope flap round to reveal a different colour combo, making for a two-for-one accessory investment. The shoes were also pretty showstopping, with cool clogs and printed killer heels on offer.
Once we’d dragged ourselves away from the collection, it was time to refuel with pumpkin squash and apple tarts and fresh English garden juices before leaving with our very own cornflower seed bomb to recreate a Mulberry-esque garden at home. Thanks for having us guys – can we come back next week please?
