It was the scene of Solange Knowles’ infamous elevator scuffle with bro-in-law Jay Z, and also happens to be one of THE biggest fashion events on the calendar; so you can imagine how excited we are to discover that the prestigious and uber exclusive Met Ball is going to feature in its own documentary.
Yep, following the whole experience from inception to red carpet fabulousness, the people behind the annual fund raising gala have decided to throw open the backstage doors and give us all a VIP access-all-areas mosey around the inner workings of the event.
Filmmaker Andrew Rossi has been confirmed to shoot the entire spectacle (this year entitled ‘China: Through The Looking Glass’) from the preparation and curation of the Anna Wintour Costume Centre exhibition, right through to the infamous celeb ascent of the MET steps.
It is fashion law (practically) that guests must dress according to the night’s theme, and most use this as a chance to truly work a glam red carpet creation. Who can forget that stunning yellow Calvin Klein dress that Scarlett Johansson wore for her Met Ball debut in 2004? And the delicate beaded Givenchy headpiece Queen Bey rocked last year? Amazing.
Taking place on May 4th this year, Anna Wintour will host alongside Jennifer Lawrence, making for one seriously powerful duo. No release dates have been confirmed as yet, but it’s safe to say we’re pretty excited. Will we get to snoop around J-Law’s dressing room? We certainly hope so.
Who needs a £25,000 ticket when you could soak up the glamour and the gossip from the comfort of your own living room?
