Being cast as the new Bond girl in the upcoming Spectre is set to catapult Stephanie Sigman into the limelight, while she also stars in the new Netflix phenomenon, Narcos. Here’s some things you need to know about this rising star…
Born in 1987 in Obregon, Mexico, Stephanie grew up speaking both Spanish and English. She’s also going be the first Mexican Bond girl in the franchise’s 50-year history.
Think you’ve seen Stephanie somewhere before? After beginning a modeling career at aged16, the 5 ft 9 inch beauty won a place on hit fashion show America’s Next Top Model, but was left devastated after alleged racial bullying caused her to walk out of the series.
She loves social networking and is a frequent user of Instagram with the user name (sigmanstephanie) and twitter (@sigmanstephanie) – note she’s a big fan of a selfie.
Stephanie’s best known for her performance as the title character in the 2011 film Miss Bala, and won this role when the director saw her in a casting for a shampoo ad. The rest as they say, is history.
Stephanie has also starred in the official music video of 2014’s Snap it Out by the Arctic Monkeys. Is there anything she can’t do?
Halle Berry is her favourite Bond Girl. Amen.
Her thoughts on Daniel Craig?
‘He was charming. We do have a lot of chemistry, which makes everything interesting, and helps when there are a lot of takes.’
Stephanie is a keen runner, claiming that it keeps her sane and helps clear her mind. She’s even been known to go for runs with her parents.
Don’t be fooled by appearances, Stephanie is one tough chick! Her boxing trainer, Eddie Hernandez, said:
‘It does not surprise me Stephanie has been picked to be a Bond Girl. She is hard working and trains for three hours a day. Her body is amazing and that’s because she puts the work in. She is super fit and could fight anyone.’
Breakfast is her favourite meal of the day:
‘I always eat a big breakfast. It’s the most important meal of the day, and I need the energy. I love bacon and eggs, and corn tortillas, but sometimes I’ll do pancakes instead.’
A girl after our own hearts.
Don’t even get us started on Stephanie’s (non existent) beauty regime. Apparently she washes her face with just soap and water and will use whatever freebie hotel shampoo she happens across, saying that she likes to keep it ‘simple’. Jealous much?
Despite favouring designers such as Altuzarra for red carpet events, Stephanie happily mixes high street fashion with designer pieces. She’s a Zara regular.
She’s the face of Belvedere’s new advertising global campaign, which celebrates the vodka’s partnership with the new Spectre flick. And how does this Bond beauty take her martini? Shaken, straight up with a twist.
