Simply Be Launches Search For A New Supermodel

As part of their AW15 campaign, Simply Be has created an advert following the battle between four plus-size models to win a professional modelling contract with Milk Model Management.

Yep, the nationwide #CatwalkContender competition received thousands of entries, but only four lucky ladies were whisked away to shoot the ad in New York, and after much deliberation, the winner has finally been decided.

Rosie Clough, 20, from Manchester, beating back stiff competition was the girl lucky enough to take Simply Be’s model search crown,  landing the competition’s top prize of a year’s model contract.

Well done Rosie!

Cath Ryan, Head of Brand for Simply Be explained why the commercial is so important: “Simply Be promote attainable body ideals in all advertising, so we are always on the hunt for new curvy models to work with and quite frankly, there just isn’t enough that represent real women of the UK.

“The competition was fierce in New York and all four girls were fantastic on and off screen so it’s going to be tough choosing the winner!

“While the message behind the advert is about equality in fashion, the main focus is on four super stylish girls who look good and exude confidence regardless of their size.”

And they certainly do. The other three drop-dead gorgeous finalists were Chanelle Mustafa, Angel Afrika and Charlotte McGuinness, and all star in the ad campaign along with Rosie, which makes up one third of the #CatwalkContender documentary to be published in installments on the Simply Be site throughout September.

Judge and body confidence campaigner Jameela Jamil, who is launching a size inclusive collection for Simply Be, was the first to praise Rosie and the campaign:

‘It’s a shame that women still aren’t represented on the catwalks during fashion week, especially as the average dress size in the UK is 16. For so many, a models body shape and size is very unachievable, but thanks to the media we are lead to believe that this is ‘perfection’.

‘Rosie has a beautiful body and is set to be an inspiration for us all.’

Meanwhile, we’re itching to get our mitts on some of the label’s new collection. That candy-striped blazer has been on our minds all day…
