Self Portrait Just Did Something Amazing

The brand has some big news...

UPDATE 13/2/17: Since Self Portrait launched back in 2013, everyone (and we mean, everyone) has jumped on the bandwagon. Gigi Hadid, Naomie Harris and, most recently, Kate Middleton have worn the brand’s signature frocks, but now there’s something else to be excited about: shoes!

Yep, in collaboration with designer Robert Clergerie, Self Portrait has launched five new shoe styles starting at £315. According to the brand themselves, Alexa Chung, Diane Kruger, Kate Bosworth, Emma Roberts, Bella Hadid, Pernille Teisbaek, Aimee Song and Eva Chen are already on the waiting list. We rest our case.

18/7/16: When one of the first people to wear your designs is J Lo, it’s safe to assume you’re on to a winner. For Han Chong, the founder and creative director of Self-Portrait, it’s been less about winning and more about domination. World domination, in fact.

Since that J.Lo moment in 2014, almost every A-lister we can think of – Jessica Alba, Maisie Williams, Daisy Lowe – has rocked a Self-Portrait frock. Rachel Bilson even chose one of the brand’s signature midis for her brother’s wedding celebrations recently.

You know the dresses we’re talking about; all guipure lace, tiered ruffles and gently flared skirts. The kind of suits-all dresses that make you ooh and ahhh in equal measure and launched a thousand high street lookalikes. The kind of dresses that are best worn skipping through meadows or frolicking with a Mr Darcy doppelganger, probably in an orchard in Somerset. And they are EVERYWHERE!

Weddings, races, BBQs, bar mitzvahs, hen dos, proms, film premieres, baby showers, garden parties, christenings, coming out parties, staying in parties, divorce parties, average Fridays. And, with prices that, while still an investment, aren’t anything like the usual designer bank-breakers – blouses start around £160 and dresses are about £240 – it’s no surprise SP pieces sell-out faster than even the hottest cakes.

Without a doubt, a Self Portrait purchase (try saying that with a mouthful of hot cake) will instantly become your go-to showstopper. This calls for celebration…pass the cake.
