The beautiful dresses are typical of Self Portrait’s style – vintage, elegant and cool – and are designed to be worn more than just on that special day.
“Women spend so much money on a dress they’ll wear once, I wanted to create a dress they can wear again and again and again,” founder and designer Han Chong told The Telegraph.
And quite right, these are certainly no ordinary dresses. From Victoriana details to off-the-shoulder styles and floaty mullet hems, these frocks are for the fashion-forward bride who doesn’t want to spend thousands on a dress she’ll only wear once.

Han told British Vogue:
“I drew inspiration from icons of the Sixties and Seventies, particularly the rock’n’roll styles of Bianca Jagger and Pattie Boyd, who were challenging the norms of dress. The pieces in my bridal debut are not your typical gowns – they were created for the unconventional bride.”
“I felt there was a gap in the market for cool, understated gowns that still had the ability to feel feminine and timeless. I wanted to take the stress out of bridal-gown shopping and create a range where there is no need to visit specialist bridal boutiques.”
The dresses range from between £650 and £1,000 and will be available from February online at Net-A-Porter and in store at Selfridges, just enough time for that proposal to happen then…
