The Royal Collage Of Art graduate is best known for her vivacious prints, fearless use of colour and design work for music mogul Kanye West. Eary has been tipped as ‘one to watch’ on the London fashion scene and now joins River’s winning fleet of young designers, putting her firmly on the fashion map.
The 18-piece collection designed for the high-street hero store was Inspired by the radical, drug-centric story of Hunter S Thompson’s Fear And Loathing In Las Vegas. Katie’s range reflects the crazy hallucinatory journey through the desert and, she says, her muses – the strong women.
Katie said of the collaboration: “River island connects to a cool type of woman, which suits my project. All those independent, sexy, powerful women who frequent River Island –naturally I thought we were a perfect match.”
River Island told LOOK that Katie’s high-street debut includes bleached denim, dip hems and billowing maxi dresses for summer, and to expect lots of vivid animal print and abstract colour! We think this sounds like just the kind of must-have, confident pieces River Island is already famous for.
Katie’s collection will land in store on 17 February and prices range from £15 to £120. We can’t wait to get in our hands on it.
