Rita Ora has said how she really feels about ex boyfriend Calvin Harris and Taylor Swift’s relationship.
In an interview with the Evening Standard, the pop star said there are no hard feelings, admitting that she’s ‘a girl’s girl.’
‘I’m not going to have that first instinct of jealousy vibe,’ she explained.
Speaking of her relationship with the Scottish DJ, Rita said: ‘It was a period of my life that I will value forever. But some things are just not meant to be. I don’t want to make this just about him. Musically, it was an amazing experiment and let’s just leave it at that.’
The I Will Never Let You Down singer recently landed the cover of July’s issue of Marie Claire US, and she looks incredible.
Showing off her newly chopped blunt crop, the star takes on a series of different fashion looks, including a gorgeous fringed Tom Ford dress. Swoon.
Taking on two covers in the series, Rita shows off the different sides to her personality. One, a playful and girly beauty shot, the other an edgy androgynous look.
If there’s one thing that can be said about Rita, it’s that she’s a true style chameleon.
Speaking with the American publication, the star spills the beans about her famous split with Calvin Harris.
Reminiscing about her time with him, she said: “It was more of a thing where I was in awe. I was at that point in my relationship where I felt he could do no wrong. I thought he had my back and that he’d never steer me wrong.”
Rita pinpointed the moment that she thought it all started to go wrong: “I Will Never Let You Down came out, and everything started to go a bit weird. I don’t know if it was because business was mixed with personal or what.”
The singer’s smash single was famously penned and produced by her then-boyfriend, and it hit the number one spot as soon as it was released back in March 2014.
Their romance soon ended, just three months after the single’s release. It was a very public break-up, which we guess is all part of the celebrity gig. Rita explains: “There was a reason why I split up with him. And there was a reason why I’m at this point in my life where I feel like I have so much musical freedom, and I don’t have to explain myself to anybody…”
Like any 24-year-old, the star seems to have learnt a lot from her past experiences, and is now enjoying the flexibility that comes along with being in charge of her own life and career.
Rita reflects on her attitude towards relationships. She is very open about her fears of being alone: “I’m afraid of being alone… I’m not afraid to admit that, you know. I’m not embarrassed to admit that. I just hope it’s not a never-ending cycle. Sometimes love just makes you feel crazy.”
She goes on: “And that feeling that we have as girls, just to have that feeling, even for five seconds… It’s like comfort eating.”
We can relate.
Both Rita and Calvin have moved on. Rita is currently dating the son of fashion designer Tommy Hilfiger, whilst Calvin has recently gone public with pop princess Taylor Swift.
Things seem to be getting better and better for the Poison star, who has just been announced as the new X Factor judge along with fellow newbie Nick Grimshaw, and the return of the nation’s sweetheart, Cheryl.
