Rihanna‘s Met Gala 2015 dress is pretty much all we can talk about over at LOOK HQ this morning. And it’s not hard to see why.
Never let it be said that the Bajan beauty knows how to make an entrance, and in New York last night, she did just that in her canary yellow fur-trimmed dress cape.
Considering the 2015 Met Gala’s theme – Chinese Whispers: Tales of the East in Art, Film and Fashion – it’s safe to say Rihanna stuck to the brief, with her standout outfit coming from Beijing-based designer Guo Pei.
The ensemble featured a silky swirly embroidered cape that boasted what might be the biggest train we’ve ever seen, and which covered a little pink satin mini dress underneath.
It’s worth noting that Guo Pei’s sumptuous designs are currently on display in the current Metropolitan Museum exhibit, ‘China: Through the Looking Glass’, so it’s no wonder it was a talking point.
The whole thing looked very heavy, and it was – it took three people alone to carry it up the stairs for princess RiRi. Wowzers.
The FourFiveSeconds singer accessorised with silver pointed pumps, an opulent choker and a gorgeous gold oriental-inspired tiara, which we loved.
And while her OTT dress strongly divided opinion, Rihanna’s makeup had us drooling, with dark, straight, painted on eyebrows and a beauty spot giving a nod to the theme, and brushed rose gold blush and eyeshadow giving her look a romantic finish.
Of course, a Met Gala dress like this is only going to spark a whole load of hilarious memes. And Rihanna’s has done just that, with everything from pizzas to omelettes being cooked up on the Internet as an ode to our favourite BadGalRiRi.
But she wasn’t the only one. Sarah Jessica Parker also had Twitter talking due to her towering red Philip Treacy headpiece that resembled fiery flames and came complete with long red tassels on either side. Cue amazing memes.
The Sex And The City star teamed her statement headgear with a black one-shoulder dress from H&M’s Conscious Collection, surprising us all with her unexpected high street pick.
And the surprises kept on coming…
