Ever the style chamelion, Rihanna has had a major fashion and beauty transformation for the cover of i-D Magazine, styled by the mag’s own Fashion Director, Alastair McKimm.
Known for boundary pushing and its inspirationally quirky shoots, we think this is a match made in heaven.
Including the famous spider shoot starring Cara Delevingne (and shot in London Zoo, no less), other cover stars have included Kate Moss, Victoria Beckham and FKA Twigs.
Shot by renowned photographer Paolo Roversi, the series takes on a grunge feel with an icey, blue tone.
Rihanna sports her signature denim look; the full length shot sees the bad gal wearing some oversized Mom-style jeans, with a bare top half to show the singer’s various tattoos. The focus isn’t on the clothes.
Rocking a serious ‘do, the celebrity hair stylist Yusef pulled the star’s locks into a series of braids, which were then later twisted into a number of top knots.
The pop star’s make-up is heavily bronzed, with her lips dramatically outlined in a brown pencil and filled in with matching tones. The clumpy mascara trend, seen on the autumn/winter 2014 catwalks by the likes of Prada, has been nodded to – a further throwback to the 90s craze.
The Four Five Seconds star plays with accessories, adorned with a fierce septum ring and a chunky ear cuff.
We just can’t tear our eyes away…
