Reese Witherspoon Faces $5 Million Lawsuit

From Kylie and Kendall’s PacSun copyright case for using Florida brand Island Company’s motto, to Kylie’s attempt at trademarking her first name, the A-list seems shrouded with lawsuits lately. And now, Reese Witherspoon has been added to the list.

We KNOW. How could bona fide lawyer and sorority sister Elle Woods find herself in such a situation?!

According to TMZ, the actress has been accused of copying a design from jewellery designer Jordann Weingartner’s I Love Jewellery line for her own Draper James label and is now being sued $5 million.

Ouch.

The item in question is a Draper James tote bag, which Jordann Weingartner claims is all too similar to his magnolia flower design…

“I drew the design for my Magnolia Collection back in 2008,” Weingartner told Page Six. “The flower isn’t a traditional magnolia flower, it is my artistic take on a magnolia. My design actually looks nothing like a magnolia and Draper James not only took the design, but also decided to call it a magnolia.”

Jordann also claims that Reese has previously seen the design since she was sent a necklace from the brand’s Magnolia collection as a gift. On top of that, the I Love Jewellery designer says that Reese has ignored several attempts from her to settle the case out of court.

“They basically ignored us. So we’re ready to fight,” she said.

As for a response from Reese, her representatives are yet to have released a statement on the case.

Come on Witherspoon, bring out the Elle Woods in you.
