Red Carpet Trend Watch: Peplums And Mono Prints Rule

When Miranda Kerr, Blake Lively, Olivia Wilde and Emma Stone worked the red carpet at the Museum of Modern Art’s 4th Annual Film benefit, a tribute to cult director Pedro Almodovar, last night, we couldn’t help but notice a couple of trends emerging from their high-fashion looks. Miranda Kerr and Blake Lively were pioneering the ever-flattering peplum, Miranda in a futuristic zip-front Peter Pilotto dress and Nicholas Kirkwood heels, and Blake in a clashing textured number from her go-to label, Chanel. We’re huge fans of the peplum too – if you’re feeling bloated, it hides the bulge, but if you need help creating curves, you’ll have them in a flash. They’re sticking around for SS12 too, with Celine, Thakoon and Jason Wu all loving the design detail.

Monochrome prints were another major style player last night thanks to Emma Stone and Olivia Wilde. Emma went for a smudgy Chanel Couture print dress that was all about the details, with a leg split, amped up corsage and ruched waist, while Olivia looked demure in her midi dress, satin pumps and dainty beaded clutch.
