Julianne Moore And Jessica Chastain Catch Up On The FROW

The stars were out in force to support Ralph Lauren as he unveiled his latest collection at New York Fashion Week. Hollywood heavyweights such as Jessica Chastain, Julianne Moore and even Alec Baldwin with wife Hilaria sat FROW-side, ready to witness SS16, Ralph-style.

Prior to the show, the brand tweeted: ‘Expect sleek, luxurious sportswear’ and that’s exactly what we got. This felt like a fresh approach for the all-American label, which even chose to stream the show live via Periscope, which was shown in London’s Piccadilly Circus. There were tapered trousers, double breasted blazers, sky-high wedge heels, ruffled maxi skirts slung low on hips and paired with classic striped shirts, not to mention a vivid injection of scarlet.

> Ralph Lauren drew inspiration from the Riviera for SS16

Crisp summer whites, blue stripes and red coats made for a colour palette that was just made for the seaside, while the tan accessories, chic shirt dresses and fluid tailoring ensured the brand’s preppy heritage wasn’t betrayed. At the same time, there was a cool girl edge to the spring/summer offering, with super soft leather bikers and two-piece suits, jumpers tied around waists and wide leg trousers complete with go-faster stripes down the sides.

> Tan accessories, floor-sweeping gowns and body-con dresses… Ralph Lauren SS16 felt fresh and luxurious

The body-con, cut-away gowns were balanced out by billowing dresses in those chevron stripes, as well as the culottes teamed with asymmetric tops. We also loved those geometric prints in bold, primary hues seen on bandeau maxis, trench coats and shirts.

> Ralph Lauren has just asserted himself as the go-to for Riviera glamour for SS16

This was one Riviera-ready collection, and judging by the guests in attendance, it’s one we expect to see at Cannes next year. As Ralph took his bow, he walked the entire length of the runway, stopping to greet his A-list guests. As well as utilising the technology of Periscope, the brand also made a ‘curated collection of SS16 looks available on the website, meaning that no keen customer need wait to shop this haul.
