Pinterest is a constant source of fashion inspiration. The site provides us with outfit ideas, street style inspo and trend updates. And we’re not alone. According to Pinterest’s data there were 5.6 billion fashion-related pins on the site in 2016. That’s a hella lot of #ootd.
The clever number crunchers over at Pinterest have looked at these pins and worked out what the most popular colours of the year, and in the fashion category it’s blush pink and mint green.
Blush pink was chosen because the amount of pins featuring the shade has increased by 20% already this year, and saw a huge 200% increase since February 2015. Mint green pins have increased 40% since December.
Gigi clearly got the memo. Spotted out and about this week in NYC with her mum, Gigi worked a head-to-toe blush pink get-up. Gigi gave the pastel pink three-piece an edge with a gold choker and black leather bowling bag.
Pinterest’s findings correlate pretty well with Pantone’s colour predictions. Pantone named rose quartz (a light pink) and serenity (a light cornflower blue) their colours of 2016.
It appears it’s all about the pastel hues for summer. Dressing like an ice cream sundae has never been cooler…
And the high-street have jumped on the bandwagon. We’ve seen these shades popping up in the new arrivals sections of some of our high street stores – get ahead of the game by checking out our favourites below.
Pair these pastel shades with navy, khaki or denim to tone down the sugar levels.
When it comes to the interior and beauty pins the colour trends are completely different. In the beauty world, there’s a shift towards darker blues and greens as well as lavender. However, for interiors it is all about a more minimalistic look with grays and mauves proving to be the most popular.
