In case you were hiding under a rock over the weekend, Zayn Malik’s video for new single Pillowtalk dropped. And safe to say the Twittersphere went a little bit crazy…
Since the 23-year-old aired his debut solo single at midnight on Friday night, it’s now racked up over 24 million YouTube views, and is number one on the iTunes chart.
But it’s not just the seriously raunchy lyrics – rumoured to be written about ex girlfriend Perrie Edwards whilst they were still together – that have been causing a stir… It’s the video, which features none other than Zayn’s current girlfriend, Gigi Hadid.
In moody, provocative and seriously sexy vid, Gigi and Zayn are seen passionately kissing as the former One Direction singer sings sex-themed lines such as: ‘F***ing you and fighting on, it’s our paradise and it’s our war zone. In your bed all day, bed all day, bed all day.’
So, what must Perrie think about all of this? Well, the Little Mix singer seemed to react to her ex’s single and video with a suggestively captioned Instagram post at the weekend.
The 22-year-old shared a snap of her sitting topless in bed surrounded by pillows and playing on a guitar, writing: ‘I could play all night’.
Hmm. Could this be a thinly veiled mocking of Pillowtalk’s suggestive lyrics? Or just complete coincedence? Who knows, but it was pretty cleverly timed of Perrie…
Gigi has also reacted to the single release, with her and Zayn exchanging flirty tweets after the video dropped on Friday.
Zayn kicked off by tweeting Gigi, saying: ‘You seen the video babe ? Someones Looking [flame emojis].’
The supermodel replied: ‘Nah musta missed it. Jokes.. I wasn’t looking at myself, trust me [flame emojis].’
And the man himself was clearly overawed by the positive reception his first solo single received, judging by his tweets the next day.
‘This s**t is crazy … I can’t believe it’, Zayn wrote. ‘Blown away … Love you all.’
