Oh the glitz, the glamour, the outfits – you can always count on the Cannes Film Festival to deliver some of the chicest looks of the year and luckily for us, this year’s festivities have failed to disappoint so far. From mesmerizing gowns and knock out jewels on the red carpet, to relaxed but sophisticated Riviera chic by day, here are the top looks you need to know about right now.
We were expecting to be totally bowled over by Rooney Mara at Cannes and we were not left disappointed. Her incredible Alexander McQueen mini made for one seriously fabulous photocall moment and she continued to make waves in white, picking a flowing Rochas gown for the red carpet.
It was a weekend of blue for Diane Kruger who picked two of the sleekest looks Cannes has seen yet. Coming up roses in Dolce & Gabbana at the photocall, Ms Kruger then plumped for sequined Prada at the evening event.
The ridiculously beautiful Emma Stone has a serious Marilyn moment in her Oscar De La Renta lace dress as it was blown around in the wind. She then went all Nineties for the premiere of Irrational Man in a high-neck white Dior showstopper!
Sienna Miller is the woman we can’t stop talking about at LOOK towers. We’ve loved her looks so much this year, we struggled to pick just one to show you. She got us excited first when she stepped out in a chic monochrome, over-the-knee Balenciaga frock to attend the jury photocall. And as if that wasn’t enough, the Standing Tall actress upped the ante later that night in this stunning Lanvin off the shoulder dress.
Charlize Theron also nailed both day and red carpet looks this week. Proving that black doesn’t have to look boring in summer, the Mad Max actress had her hair slicked back to show off the beautiful pussy bow detail of her Valentino dress that gave a nod to the seventies fringing we can’t get enough of right now. If her day look was muted, her red carpet frock was far from it. The 48 year-old stole the show in a subtly corseted strapless Christian Dior Couture gown. As for her hair, you couldn’t get any more old Hollywood glamour if you tried!
Jumpsuits are having a serious moment right now so Rachel Weisz was bang on trend in this black number to attend the photocall for The Lobster. Proving that isn’t just about dresses at Cannes, we love how the subtle cut out on the front gives it a fresh and modern twist.
When does Julianne Moore ever get it wrong? She’s always been a firm favourite of ours and she exceeded all expectations with this Armani Prive dress. With its deep v-neck, feathers and embellishment detail, it ticked all the right boxes. We’re calling it – it might just be one of her best red carpet moments of the year so far!
If anyone can move pull off a thigh-skimming dress, it’s beautiful Ethiopian supermodel Liya Kebede. We love that she moved away from convention and opted for something fun and playful rather than a floor length gown. The long sleeves on her Louis Vuitton stunner perfectly balance out the short hemline and her natural make-up and loose wavy hair finished the look off perfectly.
It’s not just about the red carpet at Cannes and Naomi Watts gave a lesson in how to make just as much of a statement off the red carpet when she attended a private dinner in this halter neck Altuzarra dress. We love the sheer metallic effect.
If there was a rule that you shouldn’t wear a dress that matches the colour of the carpet, Miranda Kerr broke it and we’re happy she did! The former Victoria’s Secret model was a head turner at the Magnum Pink & Black Party in this stunning pink Emanuel Ungaro creation. The strappy sandals are subtle and really allowed the dress to shine.
Natalie Portman proved why red dresses are still having a moment when she stepped out in a classic strapless design with a playful v-cut neckline from Christian Dior to attend the premier of Standing Tall. Proving that less is sometimes more, we love that how paired back and simple this look is. The drop earrings and statement cuff added just the right amount of drama.
