My LOOK My Week: Maxine Eggenberger

Hi, I’m Maxine, Look’s Senior Fashion News Writer – thanks for stopping by my personal style page! Here at Look, there are some very exciting new things coming your way, and one of them is getting a sneak peek into the wardrobes of some of the magazine most fashion-hungry staff. I just so happen to be one of them.

I began my love affair with all-things clothes when I purchased my very first dress – a dip hem number from Tammy Girl (R.I.P) – and, after experiencing the euphoria of the frock’s first-wear, I knew my wardrobe and bank balance would never be the same again.

A serial-shopper through and through, I’ll be updating you on my weekly splurges as well as revealing some of my favourite pieces from seasons gone by. So, what kind of outfits can you expect from me? The fact that I’ll try any trend once means that my wardrobe is as eclectic as they come – from Clueless-inspired mini skirts and off-the-shoulder frocks to edgy suiting and lashings of leather, you can expect to see them all styled out in the coming weeks.

Now, let’s shop…

Get Your Check On

As soon as I locked eyes on this uh-mazing Topshop tartan mini, I knew I had to have it. A word of caution: steer clear of white shirt and jumper combos, unless you want to channel schoolgirl dress-up. Instead, I’ve opted for a chic white blouse (also from Topshop) and finished with my trusty Mango leather biker for added edge.

Cocktail Dress Re-Spin

I bought this babin’ dress for one of the Fashion Team’s weddings, but now I’m hellbent on getting the wear out of it. Instead of rocking with killer heels, I’ve switched up the vibe with patent Zara ankle boots.

Layering is my jam, and I’ve spent lots of time working out new ways to style up my off-the-shoulder buys in the colder months. My fave outcome? This haltered ASOS vest and striped H&M roll neck combo.

Coordinated Cool

In the cooler months, I find myself living in moody tones of navy, evergreen and burgundy, but this aubergine-hued ASOS jumpsuit offers a fresh take on rich tones. I’ve paired it with this brilliant ombre jacket – I snapped them up at the same time as I thought they’d look even better worn together – my bank balance might have looked grim at the time, but it was SO worth the splurge!
