The Best High Street Looks From The Met Gala

Because not everyone wears designer...

The Met Gala is one off (if not, the) most talked about event in the fashion calendar. Everyone who is anyone steps out in a sea of some of the most astounding gowns you’ll ever see. Of course, there’s a lot of designer and couture to be taken in, but a number of stars have worn high street on the red carpet, too.

Take Kendall. Back in 2014, she rocked an ivory satin dress by- wait for it- Toppers. Yes, really. Then, in 2015, Emily Ratajkowski and Bella Hadid followed suit in frocks by the same brand. Victoria’s Secret Angel and all-round mega babe Taylor Hill kept the Topshop trend up in 2016, with a mesh backless black number from the Unique range.

It’s not just Topshop, either; apparently stars have a bit of a penchant for H&M. Sarah Jessica Parker donned a dress from the brand back in 2015, shortly followed by Hailee Steinfeld and Amber Veletta in 2016.

And this year? It was all about the *ahem* H&M bass for Nicki Minaj, who went for a plunging black bodysuit complete with red and black train. Model Stella Maxwell, meanwhile, rocked a cream fringed floor-length number, while Ashley Graham stole the H&M show in a one-shouldered white and red design adorned with tulle flower trimming. As for Topshop, almost the entire Victoria’s Secret squad came decked in the brand, with Candice Swanepoel rocking a black strapless gown, Joan Smalls in a slinky red leg-slit number and Behati Prinsloo in a white strappy cut-out creation.

See? High street really is a no-brainer. Here’s the very best high street Met Gala looks:
