Meet The Royal Princesses Taking Over The FROW

We’re always going on about fashion royalty but when it comes to these fash pack faves, that’s literally the case. Yup, they’re all Princesses and they’ve all got a big thing for fashion.

Stealing the spotlight from the celebs, these royal gals are taking over the FROW, one show at a time. From sitting pride of place at Chanel to hanging out with blogging legend Leandra Medine at this week’s Altuzarra show in New York, this season’s ‘It’ girls are regal, refined and by royal appointment only.

First up is Saudi royal Princess Deena Aljuhani Abdulaziz (above right). A firm fixture at fashion week, Princess Deena is strictly business. The co-founder and director of D’NA (get it? Deena…), a Riyadh-based members only boutique that aims to recreate ‘a magazine come to life’, Deena is known for always being at the cutting edge of the fashion industry. Which would explain her place next to edgy blogger Leandra Medine aka The Man Repeller at Altuzarra’s AW15 show earlier this week. Her signature pixie crop and penchant for forward-thinking designer pieces makes Deena a magnet for street-style photographers whilst her various features in VOGUE and reporting for set her apart from the peacocks and place her firmly with the fashion insiders. We have a feeling we’ll be seeing a lot more from Deena.

Princess Elisabeth

Next up, is the lengthy-named Princess Elisabeth von Thurn und Taxis. And breathe. Not your typical princess, the socialite/journalist is fast becoming the coolest addition to fashion week. And she’s weirdly homegrown. Having been educated in Kent and now living in London, Elisabeth might be a German princess but we’re claiming her as one of our own. Think of any occupation or celebrity and chances are she’s been there, done that and got the celeb selfie. A childhood friend of Michael Jackson, a model for Vanity Fair’s ‘Fortune’s Children’ shoot in 2009, an author of a book about art collecting, a religious writer and regular blogger, there’s pretty much nothing Princess Elisabeth doesn’t do. Including fashion. Turning up everywhere from Thakoon’s AW15 show alongside Lily Aldridge, to Prada’s Iconoclasts party, Elisabeth’s bold use of colour and print, not to mention her nose piercing and penchant for fur, are making her a solid member of the fash pack and the least traditional princess we know.

Princess of Thailand

Last up on the royal roster is Princess Sirivannavari Nariratana aka the grandaughter of the King of Thailand. Not too shabby. Taking Elisabeth’s lead, Sirivannavari was also brought up in England (clearly our royal family are a good influence) and is ranked by Forbes as one of the top 20 hottest young royals in the world. Again, she’s doing pretty well. Currently studying fashion and textiles at university, we reckon the Thai princess has a slight advantage over her fellow students. Bagging a place front row at all the hottest shows (everything from Chanel to Elie Saab), Sirivannavari is a Paris street-style regular. And when it comes to her show-stopping outfits, the princess is all about the bling. Her gold cuffs, statement rings and metallic threads are signature Sirivannavari but these are nothing compared to the diamond tiara she casually donned for Chanel’s supermarket chic show. We’re not jealous at all….
