Marks and Spencer’s collections her been going from strength to strength over the last few seasons, but when we locked eyes on the high street giant’s upcoming offering, we could hardly believe what we saw.
In the midst of countless press days, we’ve seen more jackets, dresses, bags and shoes than we can count, and it can be pretty hard for a collection to really make an impression. However, M&S’s SS16 collection stopped us in our tracks.
Undoubtedly the brand’s most directional offering yet, M&S has definitely learnt what makes it’s savvy fashion shoppers tick. Taking note of the success of its tan suede a-line midi skirt from last season, this collection’s stand out piece has to be a wrap leather skirt in rich bottle green, which will retail at £199. We bet Alexa Chung and Olivia Palermo will be queueing round the block to get their paws on this beauty.
The brand is also tapping into one of the biggest street style trends of the year with it’s ruffled yoke blouse – a homage to the blue Miu Miu number EVERY girl in the know was sporting during Fashion Week back in September. However, as well as on-point pieces, M&S has also refined all of its staples, making everything from white shirts to sweaters work so much harder, thanks to new sleeve shapes and necklines.
And, what’s more, you won’t have to wait AGES for it to hit the shelves, either. In fact, the new line is set to start trickling into stores as early as January, so you’ll definitely want to set aside any cash in hand you get during Crimbo to snap it up. What will we be buying first? It has to be the cream lace skirt or the blush pink bomber and dress combo…
Oh, M&S – you really are so much more than nasty sandwiches and undies.
