If like us you cried a little bit inside when you heard the news a couple months ago that Marc Jacobs’ highly successful diffusion line Marc by Marc Jacobs was being incorporated into his mainline luxury brand, don’t worry – you still have a few more months to get your mitts on some of his highly covetable goods before they’re gone forever.
From celebrity runway queens (including the likes of Cara and Kendall) to funky directional pieces, the MBMJ line paved a lively way to the forefront of our fashion sensibility with its distinctive nod to youth subculture and quirky transitional separates and accessories.
The appointment of British designers Luella Bartley and Katie Hillier as brand directors in 2013 brought a new lease of life to the label and their respective collections were received with an outpouring of critical acclaim. However, this lauded partnership was unfortunately not destined to hold the MBMJ helm forever. As sad as that is, it does however leave the ladies free to pursue further world fashion domination with the creation of their own luxury brand Hillier Bartley (hotly anticipated by us, and coming in Autumn/Winter 2015).
Founded in 2001, Marc by Marc Jacobs has been a massive commercial success for the much-loved designer, however, the consolidation of the two businesses will mean a new and exciting era for the brand.
You’ll be delighted to hear that there are still plenty of MBMJ treats available, and we’ve picked a few to tickle your fancy. From colourful bag charms to super cute sliders, don’t miss the chance to bag yourself a little piece of fashion history – but be warned, the clock is ticking…..
