Who better than Ellesse poster girl and fitness fanatic Lucy Mecklenburgh – who looks uh-mazing modeling the cool new collection – to give us tips on nailing body confidence in celebration of our Love Your Body issue. Prepare to feel seriously inspired.
You look amazing modeling the new Ellesse collection Lucy. What would you say is the secret to body confidence?
Focus on your assets! We all have things we don’t like about ourselves. It’s completely normal, but don’t focus on your negatives. Show off and be proud of what you love about yourself and your body and if you can improve things you don’t like do it! For example cellulite can be improved by changing your diet, exercising & using a foam roller. I am most conscious of my short legs. There’s absolutely nothing I can do about them, but I try to make them really lean & toned & wear heels a lot, this makes me feel more confident.

What advice would you give to someone struggling with their body confidence?
Don’t worry about losing weight or dropping a dress size – confidence has to start from within so don’t be too hard on yourself. We all have hang ups, but if you make little changes like incorporating more fruit and veg into your diet then you will notice a change in your skin, won’t feel as bloated and will feel better about yourself. Slowly does it – little changes go a long way in changing your mind set and ultimately giving you more confidence about yourself.
Being famous and looking so good can often come with nasty trolling on social media – how do you deal with that?
You have to be strong & learn to laugh them off. It is hard sometimes to ignore, especially if you agree with what they are saying but I focus on the lovely supportive comments I get 99% of the time.
What is the one thing you can wear to make you feel more confident?
Heels! Always make me feel good, more confident & feminine.
How about an outfit that always makes you feel amazing?
I like to change up what I’m wearing all the time so I wouldn’t say there’s a particular outfit but you can’t go wrong with a nice dress, or a skirt and top combo with a pair of killer heels.
Do you have a go-to date night outfit?
You can never go wrong with a classic LBD maybe in a comfy jersey fabric. Louis wears some wacky outfits so at least I know I’ll never be matching him on a night out.
How do you boost your mood when you’re having a down/off/bad hair day?
I get a blow-dry and spend more time on my makeup than usual. Just make more of an effort really!
When do you feel you’re most sexy? Is it when you’re all dressed up or at home in your jammies?
Oooh that’s a tricky one! I always feel good when I’m dressed up because I know I’ve made a real effort with my hair and makeup and picked an outfit to wear especially for that occasion.
