Lorelei Linklater: Why Boyhood Breakout Star Is Our New Fave

Were you as obsessed with the movie, Boyhood, as we were? If so, you’ll understand the major girl crush we’ve developed for actress Lorelei Linklater.

Yep, Boyhood, which premiered at 2014 The Sundance Festival, was pretty epic. Incase you didn’t catch it, it was an independent coming-of-age drama shot intermittently over a whopping 12 years, depicting the childhood and adolescence of Mason Evans, Jr. (Ellar Coltrane) from ages 6 to eighteen as her grows up in Texas. Lorelei Linklater (our new fave) played Mason’s sister, Samantha.

Written and directed by Richard Linklater (yes, that’s Lorelei’s dad), it’s no surprise why the budding actress won the role, but her family connections aren’t the only thing that scored her the job – she’s a pretty amazing talent, too.

So, why do we love her so much? Well, for her cool performance, she earned a nomination for Best Young Actress at the Women Film Critics Circle Awards and a nomination at the Screen Actors Guild Award for Outstanding Performance by a Cast in a Motion Picture along with her fellow cast mates. Fancy.

She got to play alongside the legendary Ethan Hawke – they’re basically family as Ethan’s known Lorelei since she was just a baby thanks to his working relationship with her pops.

Not only is she making a name for herself in the A-list world but she’s making waves on the style circuit, too. We’ve been totting up her style hits for a while now and there’s quite a few. The 20-year-old newbie flits from mannish tailoring to girly glam and nails them both effortlessly.

Lorelei can pull off mannish tailoring and girly glam - impressive! Lorelei can pull off mannish tailoring and girly glam – impressive!

She’s well aware of the SS15 runway trends, showing off her styling skills with fashion forward flatforms at the 30th Film Independant Spirit Awards and her bardot style ballerina frock at The Vanity Fair & L’Oreal Paris Dj event in LA.

Her talents aren’t just in acting and style, Lorelei is a bit of an artist, too we hear – and a pretty good one at that.

We can’t wait to see what’s next for Lorelei, with a part in upcoming movie Occupy Texas, directed by Jedd Barry.

Whatever her next move, we’re sure it’ll be super stylish. Can we be BFFs now, please?
