Not sure what to do over the weekend? Then get blogging! As LOOK’s fourth blogging competition is closing at midnight on Monday 15 August 2011, so you’ve only got a few days left to enter.
“I’ve been blogging for just over two years, I started blogging in June 2009. I’d always wanted to start a blog but never had the motivation to do so. I started posting outfits in January 2010 after getting a tripod off my uncle and it grew from there. I wasn’t an overnight success, when I hit my one-year blog anniversary I had around 300 followers. It’s taken two years, daily posting, working out what to post about and a lot of effort to get to the blog I write now.
My biggest piece of “blogging advice” is to not listen to other people’s advice and make your own rules. Blogging is about expressing yourself as a person not just blending in with the crowd. Be whoever you want to be and offer something different to your potential readers. Try not to listen to the others who say are the do’s and don’ts of being a blogger. As a reader you probably know what you like in a blog and you probably know what you dislike too. What gives me (or any blogger!) the right to tell you what makes a good blog? Just because I’ve had some success doesn’t mean that I’m doing it the “right” way.
All bloggers start with zero followers and of course its disheartening knowing that there is no one reading your work. Just don’t give up, keep going. Success doesn’t come over night, but when it does its really humbling knowing something that you have worked so hard on and been so passionate about has become bigger than you ever imagined. “
