Following her catwalk debut at Chanel’s casino-themed AW15 couture show recently, it comes as no surprise to hear the super chic 16-year-old daughter of Vanessa Paradis and Johhny Depp, Lily-Rose, has been announced as the face of the brand’s new eyewear campaign.
But Lily’s new campaign video is already causing controversy.
In the eyewear campaign, shot by Karl himself, Lily is supposed to be a ‘baby-doll in a world imbued with sweetness and femininity’ as she pouts in dark lippy and shows off a pair of pearl embellished round Chanel sunnies.
‘Lily-Rose is stunning, she’s a young girl from a new generation with all the qualities of a star”, said Lagerfeld, calling her ‘ravishing.’
Her mum Vanessa Paradis starred in a Chanel perfume campaign for Chanel back in 1991 when she was 18, and its not like this is the first teenager to enter the modelling industry. But child Dr Michelle Elliott has now hit out at Johnny Depp for allowing his daughter to pose so provocatively…
’16-year-olds are not mentally, emotionally or intellectually able to cope with the pressures that these modelling situations place them in’, she told Mail Online. ‘I would not allow my daughter to become a model at that age.
‘I don’t think children are ready to take on the pressures at that age. Research shows that even 16-year-olds who think they are grown up find it difficult to handle pressures of grown ups. We know the effects, by and large, are not good.’
Do you agree? Is the Lily-Rose Chanel ad a bit too sexy for a 16-year-old? Or do you think it’s an overreaction? Let us know below.
