Lampshading. The hottest new celebrity-inspired street style trend.
We kid you not.
Combining throw-it-on style tricks with a quirky new term, coined by the lovely people over at PopSugar, there’s everything to love about the new phenomenon that’s taking over Instagram and style galleries.

Lampshading is a pretty easy style formula to follow.
To build an outfit that nods to it, simply sport some thigh high boots down bottom, and team with a thigh-skimming hemline up top.
Really, if you’re feeling the desire to bare some skin (we’re looking at the brave winter souls out there), you don’t even need to include the boots. It’s all about keeping that hem wide in order to achieve a true lampshade shape.
Although this look was seen on the autumn/winter ’15 catwalks, we can largely owe the rise of lampshading to celebrities such as Kate Moss and Binky Felstead.
The Kardashians are ALL OVER the lampshade sillouhette too, with both Kendall and Kourtney rocking the oversized Yeezus tour sweater, amongst a mix of other baggy numbers.
Kylie Jenner also loves an oversized shirt or two, and has adopted this street style trend for more than one Instagram moment.
It’s probably more dress-down appropriate. But Zendaya broke the style rules by taking it onto the red carpet so, really, anything goes girls.
Will you be trialling a spot of lampshading?
