Kristen Stewart rarely discussed it at the time, but her break-up with Robert Pattinson clearly still plays on her mind.
Three years on from the much publicised split, the 25-year-old has finally tackled the topic of her ex when discussing her new film, Equals.
‘It was incredibly painful,’ Kristen told the Daily Beast, when asked about what it was like filming Equals just two years after her split. ‘Ugh, f***ing kill me.’
The movie is about finding love after heart-break, and the actress explains it was difficult subject matter for both her and her co-star, Nicholas Hoult, who had also recently broken up with Jennifer Lawrence.
‘It was a really good time for [Nick and I] to make this movie’, she said. ‘Not all of my friends have been through what I’ve been through, or what some people have tasted at a relatively-speaking young age, and we were not expected to do anything.
She added: ‘Everything that we did was explorative, and a meditation on what we already knew.’
K-Stew and Rob’s relationship crumbled after she had an affair with her Snow White And The Huntsman director, Rupert Sanders, back in 2012.
Still, while Rob might still be a sore point on her relationship radar, Kristen remains hopeful about her future.
‘If you’ve been hurt – you know when you’ve broken up with someone and you look at someone walking down the street holding hands and think, “Ugh, give it a f***ing year. Let me know how you feel in a year, ugh, I don’t’ believe in that.”‘
‘Well, if [Nicholas and I] did our jobs right [with this movie], then it would be to remind you that you can definitely get back to that, and how hard, amazing, and life-fulfilling those feelings were in the very beginning.’
She ended with: ‘Relationships – you just never f***king know.’
We can’t argue with that.
