Kim Kardashian’s Met Gala Look Is Back In The News

Jaime King has come to Kim Kardashian‘s defence following the 2013 Met Gala criticism she got after sauntering onto the red carpet while pregnant wearing that floral Givenchy frock.

Jaime admitted that she ‘couldn’t stop crying’ after seeing the response Kim’s OTT baby bump blooms got on social media.

‘I remember going back in my hotel room and crying for like five hours because I kept seeing all these things come up online, all of these horrible pictures and GIFs,’ the 35-year-old, who is pregnant with her second child, told ELLE.

‘Here was this beautiful glowing pregnant woman who is probably so excited to be attending the Met ball for the first time with the man that she loved… And she has a beautiful growing child inside of her, and yet everybody bashed her and called her a whale or said she looked like a couch or drapes.’

The 33-year-old Keeping Up With The Kardashians star, who at the time was heavily pregnant with North, had everyone talking about her high-neck, long sleeved dress (which even boasted built-in gloves) as she hung off the arm of then-fiance Kanye West.

So what did King to about it? Well, she took to Instagram last week to post an unretouched picture of herself pregnant, wearing only her underwear. The caption read: ‘My body. My growing baby, open for comments. Plain as day. I, like every other woman, bracing for your judgments. This is who I am. And I love me in every flaw and curve or flat or thin area. And I love you as well in every form that your body takes.’

Jaime explained: ‘I wanted to really empower other woman in knowing that hey, yeah, you know what? I am very thin but I’m pregnant and I feel beautiful and I feel grateful that I have a child growing inside of me, and I love every little piece of me because if I don’t love myself, who’s going to love myself?’

We love this solidarity. And rest assured, Kim’s over her Met Gala criticism too, recently admitting about her look: ‘I had these gloves and this whole floral print and I loved it. ‘I thought it was so cool and it got a lot of criticism and I didn’t care because I really loved it.’

Definitely no regrets there.
