She almost needs no introduction. She’s the face that launched a thousand selfies (and a whole book on the subject), she’s a reality TV megastar, wife to Kanye West, mother to North, and of course, a designer of her very own collection for Lipsy. Yep, Kim Kardashian West is a busy lady, but we managed to catch up with her at swanky London hotel Claridges to talk clothes, Kendall and Kanye…
Whether she’s collaborating with Kourtney and Khloe on their latest Kardashian Kollection line, or watching from the FROW as Kendall struts her stuff in Paris, it’s fair to say that Kim is a total cheerleader for all of her sisters.
‘I literally want to cry when I see Kendall walking down a runway,’ she exclusively revealed to LOOK. ‘I feel like she’s my daughter sometimes, like I’m a proud mum!’
Kim explained that Kendall achieved fashion success all on her own and didn’t rely on her sisters’ established reputations to get ahead of the rest in the notoriously competitive modeling world.
‘She knew what she wanted from the beginning, always, and she got it,’ Kim told us. ‘I think I’m just so proud that my sister has such a strong work ethic and she’s really achieved what she set out to do and she made it happen for herself. That’s what makes me the most proud.’
Kim, who has been making her own mark on the high fashion world recently too, also gave us her top tips for taking one of those infamous selfies.
‘Good lighting is essential, you need good lighting,’ she advises. ‘I love a flash – I will not tolerate a selfie without flash. And I think for me personally, I like to put my chin down. I say know your pose. Looking down will always eliminate a double chin.’
Now in its fifth season, the Kardashian Kollection also includes some gorgeous new jewellery styles (Check out our gallery for all of the key pieces, available at Argos).
‘I love the necklace that says ‘Doll’ on it,’ Kim tells us. ‘You know we always say that. It’s this big chunky necklace that’s so fun.’
‘I think with our jewellery it’s all about not over-accessorising and actually just wearing one statement piece at a time. I used to completely over-accessorise myself, but now I know how to scale it back and let a fun piece stand out.’
And what does Kim love most about designing? ‘I feel so proud when I see people wearing my items’, she says.
The Kardashian Kollection at Lipsy will be available to buy online from Wednesday 29th October, but before that, you can read more of our chat with Kim in next week’s LOOK magazine, out on Tuesday. Get the lowdown on what she thinks of Kanye’s styling tips, and get the exclusive on the Kardashian sisters’ next move. You heard it here first…
