File this in the ‘news we were totally expecting’ folder because Jeremy Scott has finally snapped up BFF Katy Perry to star in the autumn/winter 2105 ad campaign for Moschino.
Ever since the designer took up his post at Moschino last year, Katy has rarely stepped out wearing any other designer. She famously strut her stuff on the catwalk at his debut show at the Italian fashion house and she often calls on him to design outfits for her biggest red carpet moments.
Last month he created a custom-made dress for her to wear to the Met Gala and everything from her tour outfits to the incredible designs she sported at this year’s Superbowl were designed by Scott.
Along with fellow stars like Nicki Minaj and Miley Cyrus, Katy’s love of the designer isn’t anything new. Talking exclusively to The Cut, Scott explains that their relationship dates back long before the 30 year-old became a celeb. She “came to me before she even had her first album and told me I was her favourite designer, and she hoped one day I would make her costumes,” he revealed. Talk about coming full circle!
Perry took to Instagram to release the first shot, which is just as OTT as we’d hoped. ‘THE FACE OF MOSCHINO,’ she captioned the image she shared with her 21 million followers. The whole campaign just dropped and it’s just as good.
Shot by photography duo Inez and Vinoodh and styled by Carlyne Cerf de Dudzeele, the first image released sees Katy wearing a patchwork denim jacket, a gold bustier and some serious gold chain action. She even sports the same Kris Jenner-inspired pixie cut she debuted on April Fool’s Day and also on the red carpet at this year’s Met Gala.
Without us realising, Katy funnily gave us a little hint about the style of the campaign back in April, when she attended the Moschino party at Coachella wearing a gold quilted bra, patchwork denim dungarees and piles of gold jewellery not too dissimilar to the outfit she wears in one of the new shots.
Despite split opinions, the image has already garnered an impressive 394,000 likes on Instagram. Not too shabby, eh?
