As Kate Middleton stepped out for Princess Charlotte’s christening looking as gorgeous as ever, it came as no surprise that she was wearing Alexander McQueen. Over the years, the highly esteemed British fashion house – under the leadership of designer Sarah Burton – has fast become her trusted go-to designer, with McQueen’s tailoring skills perfect for a princess. It seems there is no better time to remember Kates’s most amazing McQueen Moments.
On Sunday, our new baby princess was christened in Sandringham and Kate stepped out in an ivory Alexander McQueen dress as she pushed newborn Charlotte around in a traditional pram. The classic knee-length cream coat dress appeared similar to the long sleeved McQueen creation that Kate wore for Prince George’s christening and once again, she looked super elegant and classy.
Obviously a list of Kate’s best McQueen moments wouldn’t be complete without mentioning her amazing wedding dress. It was the bridal gown that most girls’ dreams are made of and the wedding dress that spawned thousands of imitations. It was a triumphant fashion moment for both McQueen and Kate that will forever be etched into fashion history. The satin and lace dress – which adorned lace appliqué handmade by the Royal School of Needlework based at Hampton Court Palace – was an intricate piece of art. With a train that measured 2m 70cm and stunning lace sleeves, Kate Middleton will be remembered as one of the best-dressed brides of this century.
Another wow moment for Kate Middleton was when she stepped out in that scarlet red dress. As the Queen celebrated her Diamond Jubilee with a river pageant, Kate couldn’t help but steal the show in a bright red McQueen creation. The dress that was originally sleeveless and shorter had actually been worn by both Tulisa Contostavlos and Kim Kardashian. However, with design tailored specifically for Kate, she put a demure spin on the outfit adding elegant sleeves and a longer skirt. Teamed with her trusty LK Bennett nude heels, Kate dazzled in red.
In June 2014, Kate visited the British heritage site which is home of the Bletchley Park Trust. Recycling an outfit she wore in Birmingham in 2011, Kate sported a McQueen creation with a very nautical feel. The outfit consisted of a long-sleeved white blouse with navy detailing and a navy side-split pencil skirt, which was adorned with gold brass buttons, flaunting her slim figure.
And finally, we must mention the Sun Military Awards in 2011. The classic combination of a black figure fitting dress and diamonds never fails to wow. Stunning in a velvet full-length dress with a frill trim around the neckline and fish-style skirt that flaunted her slim silhouette, this classic yet gorgeous outfit is a style she will be able to recycle for decades.
