Fashion and Hollywood came together in New York last night to celebrate the Tribeca Film Festival 2015 with Chanel, no less. Hitting NY restaurant Balthazar, the supermodel likes of Lindsey Wixon and Joan Smalls mingled with Uma Thurman and Robert De Niro at Chanel’s Artists Dinner, an annual event now in its tenth year.
While everyone looked (unsurprisingly) flawless, there was one attendee who happened to spark our brand new style crush. Fresh from Coachella, Karlie Kloss made us swoon in her Chanel two-piece, showing us all why we should be embracing tweed fabrics and boucle basics for summer. Having partied the weekend away, Karlie seemed happy to be reunited with pals Derek Blasberg and Joan Smalls at the dinner. She had been at the Californian festival with boyfriend, Joshua Kushner, and documented their time together with a rare Instagram pic featuring her beau.
But, back to Karlie’s Chanel co-ord. The super threw a matching cropped jacket over her shift, keeping her hair and make-up super simple, only adding a pair of classic nude ballet flats.
With Chanel’s iconic tweed re-imagined in pretty pastel hues, it feels just right for the sunny season. No wonder, then, that the high street rails are groaning with boucle separates, with frocks to make Karlie proud, and cropped jackets to give your spring outerwear an update.
Not only does this look work for weekend brunches, dinner dates and even nights out (minus the jacket), we think you’ll agree Karlie’s rocking her very own version of the power suit. That’s right, we’re going to be trying this fashion duo for the office, adding patent brogues or pointed flats.
Luckily, some of these great high street pieces start at just £39, making this a summer trend you can afford. Which is good news, even if you’re still dreaming of Chanel.
