Is This The Weirdest Trend To Hit The Couture Catwalks?

When it comes to Couture, the first thing that comes to mind might be amazing, elaborately embellished high fashion gowns, right? Well not this time. Although those were a key part of this week’s Couture offering, the classic silk creations were joined by some slightly different materials, namely plastic. Yup, you heard us right, plastic. Usually reserved for children’s toys and tupperware, plastic is the latest industrial material to hit the heights of haute couture.

From Chanel’s giant perspex tropical florals to Christian Dior’s revamped plastic macs (and let’s not forget Naomi Campbell’s cellpohane wrapped finale at Jean Paul Gaultier),  it’s official, this season’s Couture is pure plastic fantastic.

So what does this mean for the rest of us? Well ladies, it’s time to get your shine on. With the English weather living up to its rainy reputation, there’s never been a better time to dig out your old plastic mac. Alternatively, check out the awesome pop colour macs that are taking the high street by storm. Get it? Storm. Anyway…. Waterproof and bang on trend? Don’t mind if we do!
