After their star-studded wedding in August [with everyone from Brad Pitt to David Beckham in attendance], Jacqui Ritchie has unveiled in a candid interview all the details about her whirlwind romance with her husband Guy Ritchie.
The couple first set eyes on each other five years ago at The Langham Hotel in London— where she jokingly asked the film director, 47, if he was “auditioning for a new wife”.
On their first date they went to the pub together and Jacqui says she missed the last train home because they’d stayed out so long, so Guy, ever the gent, offered up his spare room.
“The next morning I had a cover shoot,” Jacqui told the Evening Standard. “And he rung me at work and said, ‘You are coming back tonight, aren’t you?’
“I said, ‘I’m exhausted, hungover and I haven’t got all my stuff.’ He goes, ‘OK, you can get your stuff, just bring it here.’ So that was it. I never stayed at my place again.”
“I mean, I knew in the pub. I looked at him and thought, ‘You’re the father of my kids.” Relationship goals!
And, as they say, the rest is history. Here’s everything you need to know about the most A-list wedding we’ve ever witnessed.
The film director’s wedding took place on the couple’s 12,000 acre Wiltshire estate beside Ashcombe House, and boasted a cool ‘festival theme’ with luxury glamping tents and flowers galore.
Jacqui looked totally stunning in an ivory lace Phillipa Lepley dress and a pretty floral hair garland made up of bright blooms, not to mention that dramatic veil… And boy, what an audience she had as she glided down that aisle.
Brad Pitt, David Beckham, Henry Cavill and Rosie Huntington-Whiteley, who was there with hubby Jason Statham, were all guests on the day. Well, Guy does know everyone.
Brad looked super stylish in a cream suit and tie and vintage-style shades as he posed for a rarely-seen selfie with one of his fellow guests. No Ange, though…
Becks also looked his usual sharp self in a similar cream suit and tie – did these boys co-ordinate beforehand?! – as he sipped on champagne in the sunshine.
And taking the coolest selfie of the wedding was Statham, who got model wife Rosie and Hollywood superstar Henry Cavill to join him for a cheeky celebratory snap.
Guy and Jacqui had been together for five years before tying the knot, and share three children together. Obviously, Ritchie famously married Madonna back in , and his and Madge’s sons Rocco and David were the ones to walk Jacqui down the aisle. Now that is cute.
There was only one bit of controversy surrounding the wedding – Jacqui posted a picture of her wearing a pair of ‘Mrs Ritchie’ embossed knickers on Instagram, which definitely turned a few heads.
Because who could forget Madonna’s infamous ‘Mrs Ritchie’ jacket that she rocked back in 2011 shortly after her wedding to Guy? There’s no denying the two bridal items are extremely similar…
Still, we guess when you’re Mrs Ritchie, you’re allowed to shout about it!
