Golden Globes Scene Stealer: Jennifer Lawrence in Dior Couture

In a sea of nude and black gowns, Jennifer Lawrence made sure she stood out from the red carpet crowd at the 2013 Golden Globe Awards in LA last night. The actress, who scooped the Best Actress, Muscial or Comedy, for her role in Silver Linings Playbook, looked radiant in the orange hued haute couture creation, despite coming down with the flu and recently splitting from her actor beau Nicholas Hoult.

Jennifer accentuated her tiny waist with a metal belt, giving the Old Hollywood gown a modern twist, finishing off the look with a shimmering box clutch and delicate drop earrings.

While she won out on the red carpet, the starlet caused controversy when she accepted her award by exclaiming, “What does it say? I beat Meryl!”, referring to fellow Best Actress nominee Meryl Streep. While some people were outraged at the apparent diss, it turns out Jennifer was just kidding, making a reference to iconic 1996 flick The First Wives Club, where Bette Midler’s character Brenda picks up Goldie Hawn’s character Elise’s award and says the same joke about beating Meryl. Phew, we thought it was a bit brave to take on acting legend and seventeen-time Oscar nominee Meryl! GG
