This Fashion Girl’s Wedding Will Blow Your Mind

When Anna Dello Russo is your bridesmaid, you can’t really have a low-key wedding. Luckily, mega fashion stylist and W magazine’s contributing editor Giovanna Battaglia doesn’t do low-key. For her wedding to Swedish property mogul Oscar Engelbert, the entire fashion industry (so it seemed) jetted off to the Italian island of Capri, for what’s already being called the most stylish wedding of the year. And it’s only June.

Let’s start with the outfits. For the rehearsal dinner the night before the wedding, Giovanna wore a custom-made, white feathered Alaïa gown with Aquazzura shoes. So far, so great. But we don’t see how anyone could have been prepared for the wedding dress itself. Made by Sarah Burton at McQueen (yes, the woman responsible for the Duchess of Cambridge’s famous gown) the dress featured an embellished corset with a huge train. The skirt, of gargantuan proportions, could even be removed, revealing a slinkier style underneath.

Then came the dancing, for which Giovanna donned a Giambattista Valli party frock with over-the-knee boots and a dramatic cape. The nuptials themselves took place against the stunning backdrop of Capri, right by the sea, with confetti raining down on the bride and groom as they sealed their union with a kiss. We didn’t know we wanted a confetti cannon before, but we sure as hell want one now.

Naturally, the wedding was Insta-famous before it had even finished; our feeds were full of the hashtag #oscarandgio. Videos of the bride performing a solo dance to ‘Eye of the Tiger’ were a particular highlight.

We have to say we’re still pretty speechless about the whole thing; the best course of action is probably to pour over the pictures yourself to really get an idea of how spectacular this wedding was.

And for all you brides-to-be out there, may we suggest incorporating a confetti cannon into your big day?
