Gigi Hadid is currently dating Zayn Malik, in case you hadn’t heard. And now, her mum Yolanda Foster has spoken about her daughter’s new man for the first time.
The Real Housewives Of Beverly Hills star was grilled about Zayn at a recent premiere, and cutely revealed that Gigi seems happier than ever in her new relationship.
‘I haven’t met him yet,’ she told Entertainment Tonight. ‘Gigi’s 20 years old, loving life, shopping like she should. I haven’t met him yet, so I can’t say anything about it.’
It’s a good job her mum approves, because it’s fair to say that the model’s new romance has already ruffled a few feathers…
The pair were first spotted jumping into the same car together after the AMAs, and since then, have been spotted holding hands and enjoying multiple dinner dates in LA.
But the reaction hasn’t all been positive.
First, Gigi’s ex boyfriend Joe Jonas unfollowed her and Zayn on Instagram, before reportedly deleting a snap of him, Zayn and Kanye West from Paris Fashion Week in June off his account. Eesh! Someone seems to have taken it hard…
Then, Gigi received a flurry of abuse on Twitter, calling her and the former One Direction singer out for their ‘fake’ relationship, which started up just weeks after her split from Joe. Which is when Gigi hit back.
Her tweets, which have now been deleted, read: ‘Sometimes life just happens… For whatever reason in whatever timing. And sometimes it doesn’t make sense till it does. That’s it.’
She continued: ‘If there was a real way to sit with each one of you and tell you my side of things, I would. But there’s not, so I won’t. I’ve found the only way to happiness is by living as though the microscope isn’t there.’
The model is also said to have replied to a fan who called her out for asking the public to ‘believe in [her] fake relationship’ but to ‘not be judged for it’. ‘It doesn’t work that way’, they tweeted.
Gigi shot back: ‘Who are you to say what is fake? Your comment proves my point exactly. If you don’t know you don’t know’, before posting a shot of a beach with ‘chill’ written across it.
Crikey. Who said the path of romance ever ran smoothly…
