Agyness Deyn’s Dr. Martens Collection – Exclusive Interview

If you’ve picked up this week’s issue of LOOK, you’ll find the lowdown on Agyness Deyn’s hot new hook up with Dr. Martens. Packed with grungy daisy frocks and kitsch accessories, it’s your fast track to the model’s cool ’90s aesthetic. Below, we’ve got an exclusive Q&A with the Brit icon, where you can get the scoop on everything from her style inspirations to her fave piece from the collection. SR

LOOK: We love your first fashion line with DMs. How did it all start?

Agy: The whole process began because I was thinking about a pair of Dr. Martens that I couldn’t find anywhere, so I thought, I’m going to ask them if I can make them!

LOOK: When did you get your first pair of DMs?

Agy: My first pair of Dr. Martens were my school shoes, they were a pair of the 1460 eight-eye boots in black, the originals. Now I have a pair of Docs with me where ever I travel. I’ve worn them on every continent and every terrain.

LOOK: The ’90s grunge references in the clothes are great – what are your tips for our readers about how to pull off this statement look?

Agy: My inspirations are Morrissey, The Clash, Patti Smith, anyone who exudes a sense of identity. I love people-watching and getting inspiration from whatever I’m doing, wherever I am.

LOOK: What’s your favourite piece from the line and how will you be wearing it?

Agy: I love it all, I can’t wait to wear it. The thigh-high boots are so amazing, and the floral dress is heaven.

LOOK: What styling tips do you have for our girls about pulling off a heavy DM boot?

Agy: The collection is boy meets girl, it’s sexy vs masculine. Wearing the floral daisy dress with a heavy boot adds a real edge.

LOOK: What can we look forward to next from Agyness Deyn for Dr. Martens?

Agy: We’ve already started working on the SS13 collection and I’m loving the whole process. Designing with the Dr. Martens team is a great fit and I’d love to establish something with longevity.
