Emma Watson never fails to look anything short of fabulous these days. Her journey from Harry Potter teen star to one of the chicest red carpet players in the ‘biz is one of the most welll-documented. And much of that is down to one talented lady.
Step up, Sarah Slutsky. The 28-year-old former Vogue assistant has been dressing Emma for three years and is reponsible for some of the star’s most iconic looks (yep, that dress-over-trousers Golden Globes look included).
‘She’s very young and very cool’, Emma’s said of her super stylist, whom she met at the Cannes Film Festival in 2013.
‘We are very collaborative’, Sarah tells Fashionista of her main celebrity client, admitting it is a ‘full-time’ job. ‘Always looking at the world around us, images, books, art, we talk about what we are loving and work together to build looks.’
Even when striding through the airport to catch a flight, Watson looks impeccable – see her cropped striped Tibi jumper, chic black joggers and smart pointed pumps that she rocked yesterday for evidence. ‘I love a mood board’, admits Sarah.
So how does it feel to help one of Britain’s most famous star’s nail it time after time? ‘It’s humbling. There is always work to be done, I strive to do my best work no matter what the occasion and always look forward. My number one priority is that my clients are happy’, she says.
But Sarah’s biggest accolade was perhaps helping Emma to win the 2014 British Style Award.
‘That was exciting! It was really cool, a cool look,’ her stylist says of the white Misha Noonoo jumpsuit and oversized Dior blazer that the star wore to collect said award from Harry Styles on the night.
And then there was that infamous daring Dior Couture backless red dress worn over trousers that the Bling Ring star worked at the 2014 Golden Globes…
‘I was a little nervous about it for a big awards show,’ Emma admitted afterwards. “I had another option in case I chickened out, but I didn’t.’
We’re glad too. What a total dream team.
