If you’re anything like us, you’ll be obsessed with @drawbertson, aka fashion illustrator and pro-Instagrammer Donald Robertson. He’s the creator of fashion-obsessed giraffe, Mitford (unfortunately Mitford’s not real, but he’s still super cute anyway), and over the years, Mitford has become an icon in himself. A fictional intern of Anna Wintour, Mitford has graced the likes of Paris Fashion Week as well as featuring on J Crew’s kids’ tees (we tried to squeeze ourselves in but unfortunately it just wasn’t happening).
Now there’s officially no stopping him, as Mitford’s just landed his very own book, Mitford At The Fashion Zoo, which hits stores on 10th August. In the book, Mitford secures his dream job at COVER, a top fashion mag, encounters divas such as Shark Jacobs, Mikael Boars, Zap Possum and Panda Summers, and tries to save New York Fashion Week. No pressure, huh?
Donald told InStyle: “I created this book for childish adults that love fashion and for all the sophisticated kids today who are early adaptor chic freaks. Mitford crashes a designer party and manages to somehow not get kicked out. We are all Mitford at heart.”
If that still isn’t enough Mitford for you, Donald will be releasing exclusive Mitford themed fashion items too on the launch date. Collaborating with the likes of J Crew, Rolex and Warby Parker, they’re bound to be pretty spesh.
Not heard of Donald Robertson before? Here’s three facts you need to know:
- As well as being a top illustrator, he’s also the Creative Director of Estee Lauder
He’s collaborated with the likes of Alice + Olivia, Bergdorf Goodman, Brian Atwood, Colette, Smashbox, J Crew and Story
He credits that Vanity Fair editor, Grayson Carter, taught him that “it’s fair game to make fun of fashion folk.”
Let’s hope Anna Wintour sees it that way…
