Following in the fashionable footsteps of Marc Jacobs and Karl Lagerfeld, we are super excited to hear that J.W.Anderson is the latest designer to be working his magic on Diet Coke next month, and we can’t wait to see his take on the iconic bottle.
The Northern Irish designer took inspiration from his AW15 knitwear collection to give the fizzy treat a catwalk worthy makeover, and will see the bottle covered with photographic images rather than illustration for the first time.
The designer said, “I have picked one or two of the most iconic pieces from my collection, and used the medium of photography like a postcard, to create something tactile and with a sense of texture.”
He went on to explain just how excited he was to be part of the latest collaboration: “There aren’t many chances in life to project your ideas on to such an iconic form – it’s kind of like a dream come true.”
Having previously created collections for Topshop, J.W.Anderson is no stranger to working with mega brands, and he has a loyal A-list following including the likes of Alexa Chung and Rihanna. Known for his provocative, androgynous designs, we can’t wait to see what the designer comes up with for Diet Coke.
J.W.Anderson’s bottle, along with two limited edition t-shirts, a notebook and tote bag, will be unveiled at the end of this month, with a limited edition collectors box set going on sale in Harvey Nichols in August. If previous Coca Cola and fashion collaborations with fellow designers like Matthew Williamson and Patricia Field are to go by, it’s sure to be a total sell out.
We’re thirsty just thinking about it.
