Diane Kruger Took Red Carpet Style Tips From Alexa Chung

It’s fair to say we were pretty taken with Diane Kruger’s Golden Globes gown.  Opting for a sleeveless, figure-hugging, shimmering metallic dress, Diane was one of our best dressed of the night, thanks to the simplicity and old-school glam appeal of her look. And, guess who designed this silver showstopper? None other than Alexa Chung’s red carpet go-to, Emilia Wickstead.

The British designer has gathered quite the celebrity following in the past couple of years. Everyone from Poppy Delevingne and Olivia Palermo to Kate Middleton has worn one of Emilia’s ladylike creations, and with her signature silhouette of full skirts, feminine shapes and stand-out shades, it’s not hard to see why she’s the hottest name in celeb world right now.

Emilia studied at the legendary Central Saint Martins before launching her own label in 2009, where she made her name as a made-to-measure atelier (that explains the couture-like feel of her collections, then). In 2011, she showcased her very first ready-to-wear offering at London Fashion Week, and since then, we’ve seen the likes of Suki Waterhouse, Laura Bailey and Lilah Parsons all making a statement in dramatic, floor sweeping frocks. Diane has actually worn Emilia Wickstead before, but we reckon this metallic number from the SS15 collection might be her best look yet.

Although the dress was taken straight from the catwalk, Diane clearly had it tailored especially for her with a more defined waist to create that old-Hollywood silhouette. She accessorised with jewels by Kwiat and Manna B, and added a mother-of-pearl clutch by Emm Kuo. Her only other accessory was boyfriend Joshua Jackson, whose show The Affair scooped the award for Best Television Drama. And when they’d finished partying, Diane Instagrammed the below snap of their matching personalised pillows, captioning it with: ‘Now that was a good night’. Could they be any more adorable?
