High street institution Debenhams is shaking it up this season by adding two new names to its designer roster – Savannah Miller and Giles Deacon. We caught up with them both to get the scoop…
Nine by Savannah Miller
“Eclectic London girls and Parisian nonchalance” is how Savannah describes Nine, her collection of fashion classics. So did sister Sienna inspire any of the designs? “The black sequin dress is braver than anything I would normally do and I was definitely thinking of her when I designed it, but my favourite is the leather jacket because it’s the sort of piece that you can throw over anything and it will instantly pull your look together.”
Savannah also explained that she had decided to design for the high street to make her clothes accessible to more people:
“I think it is really important to make this look available to everyone. It shouldn’t be exclusive to people of a particular earning capacity, size or age. My 18 year old cousin wears my clothes as does my mother and it looks equally fantastic on both of them. I have three children so affordable fashion that I can throw in the washing machine is a really important thing for me. I still want to look elegant and well-dressed despite the fact that most of the time I’m covered in ketchup!”
Giles Deacon Edition
“The collection is to be worn when you want to be noticed – whether for lunch with friends, or when you just want to dress up and have a brilliant time”, Giles told us. Modelled by Daisy Lowe, it’s packed with beautiful dresses, bold prints and luxe outerwear. “I think Cara Delevingne would look great in some of the playful printed pieces.” Watch this space.
Face of the brand, Daisy, had alot of positive things to say about the new collection:
“The collection is perfectly Giles, chic, beautiful tailoring, a bit of a 70s vibe from hippy dresses to incredible suiting…romantic and fun prints at an affordable price. There’s something in there for every occasion from day to night to parties and also for holidays.”
Now we’re even more excited to shop it!
