Ain’t no party like a Chanel catwalk party in our opinion. And today Karl gave us the sheer delight of a Paris-Salzburg 2014/15 Metiers d’Art show set in the exquisite location that is Leopoldskron Castle, just outside the centre of the Austrian city. While this might not ring any bells (we were pretty clueless), the sprawling lakeside property was in fact featured in The Sound of Music! Only our favourite film of all time (ok, well top 5 at least anyway).
We kid you not, Karl is making all of our childhood sing-along dreams a reality, albeit it a rather more chic one- there were certainly no curtain outfits here. Instead, there was Cara, Kendall, Edie Campbell and co all dressed in painstakingly hand-stitched coats, capes and tiered dresses. Edelweiss was scattered everywhere, from the embroidery to the set itself, and we also spotted butterfly motifs, luxe hunting jackets and lashings of lace.
There were pom pom stacked heels, knitted pink ear muffs (yes, actually) and embellished chokers. There was the signature Chanel tweed, too, but infused with Alpine details in the delicate stitching. Of course, Cara closed proceedings, hand-in-hand with the Lagerfeld himself, and looking pretty spectacular in a dirndl-style dress, complete with layers of white ruffles and black pussybow.
Cara might be missing the Victoria’s Secret extravaganza, but we reckon it’s probably worth it if you get to have your very own Sound of Music moment. Oh, and when Karl’s personal private jet turns up to escort you, you’re probably not going to say no, either.
Oh Chanel, until next time…
